🎶 Students seek empowerment through creative expression.
During our visit to Farragut Career Academy on February 8, 2024, we were struck by the palpable sense of cultural pride evident in the artwork adorning the school's halls. Paintings depicting the heritage of the predominantly Hispanic community on Chicago's West Side served as a testament to the students' roots and aspirations. As we engaged with the students, we sensed their frustration with systemic challenges, particularly feeling marginalized by systemic forces that prioritize profit over community welfare. However, amidst these obstacles, we witnessed a glimmer of hope as the students eagerly participated in discussions about the power of music and its potential to inspire change. Their enthusiasm and passion for the "Fighting for the Power of Music" initiative underscored the significance of providing creative outlets for self-expression and empowerment

🏙️ Heroes Unite for Chicago Community Revival
We are proud to highlight our partnership with The Mission Continues, an organization that empowers veteran-led volunteers to become community leaders, transforming under-resourced communities across the nation.
At TCV, we believe veterans - like many community members with skills, drive, and passion - often lack access to the tools needed to ignite their potential and make a meaningful impact at the local level. Alongside The Mission Continues, we are energizing a movement that fosters workforce development and breathes new life into communities across Chicago.
In January 2024, The Mission Continues’ Chicago Platoon joined with Pullman Tech Workshop to provide hands-on training and practical skills in the rehabilitation of historic buildings. Many systemic barriers to accessing trades training programs still exist, including accessibility to a diverse and under-represented audience.
With each nail hammered 🔨 and every brick 🧱 laid, we're creating pathways to prosperity and unlocking the potential of every individual, ensuring that no one is left behind. Together with The Mission Continues, we are rewriting the narrative of possibility and progress in Chicago.
No Rank Zen Temple
Portland’s Gateway to Inner Peace
No Rank Zen Temple celebrated the opening of its new home in Portland, Oregon in December of 2023 with a ceremony that included chanting, silent meditation, and community time to create mental space for the new year.
As a Rinzai Zen community, No Rank Zen Temple offers traditional meditation practices and teachings, complemented by workshops in modern Western modalities, all aimed at cultivating calm, clarity, and kindness. Beyond daily meditation offerings, No Rank engages with the broader Portland community through a weekly recovery group, seasonal clothing drives, local volunteering opportunities, and free meditation instruction. No Rank Zen Temple's mission is to care for the world, starting with its immediate community.
TCV is proud to support not only the construction of No Rank Zen Temple's physical sanctuary but also their vibrant hub for positive change, enhancing community engagement and fostering a brighter future.

Dion’s Chicago Dream

In December 2023, Dion's Chicago Dream unveiled its second set of Dream Vaults, and TCV is honored to stand alongside them in support of this incredible initiative! 🍅🍊
We're not just witnessing a project; we're witnessing a movement. We're proud to play a role in bringing free produce to 175 households in Chicago every week, contributing to the broader mission of creating a healthier and more resilient community. Stay tuned as this remarkable program is scheduled to go live in the coming month, adding a powerful chapter to our collective efforts against food insecurity.

Dr. Jeremy Nobel's Foundation for Art and Healing shares this vision, and together, we are committed to tackling the loneliness epidemic, a critical public health issue highlighted by the U.S. Surgeon General.
Project Unlonely leverages the therapeutic potential of creative expression to combat loneliness and enhance well-being. Through art, storytelling, and community engagement, Project Unlonely aims to create meaningful connections and foster a sense of belonging.
