An Innovative Method of Growing Produce

Food Insecurity is a Public Health Crisis in Chicago

Food insecurity has become an alarming public health crisis, impacting underprivileged communities across Chicago. Poverty directly contributes to limited access to nutritious food, leaving many individuals and families struggling to meet their basic needs. TCV is working to address this pressing issue through the implementation of comprehensive strategies to ensure that every Chicagoan has access to healthy and affordable food options. We believe that collaborative efforts combined with a steadfast commitment to combating food insecurity will help us build a healthier and more equitable future for all residents of Chicago.

Our Solution

Tullman Community Ventures is dedicated to tackling food insecurity in underprivileged communities throughout Chicago. In collaboration with the Greater Chicago Food Depository, we have embarked on an innovative hydroponic pilot project. This transformative endeavor aims to provide underserved populations with increased access to healthy foods and fresh produce. Through hydroponics, we will generate substantial quantities of nutritious vegetables and produce to contribute to the Greater Chicago Food Depository's prepared meals program. By expanding the availability of locally grown, high-quality produce, we are empowering communities facing poverty, food insecurity, and hunger to nourish themselves with dignity and resilience.

Revolutionizing Food Access through Advanced Farming Technologies

Through our collaboration with the Greater Chicago Food Depository, TCV is committed to revolutionizing the way fresh produce is grown and distributed in underprivileged communities. By utilizing hydroponic technology and partnering with industry leaders like Fork Farms and Freight to Plate, we are ensuring that the project is well-equipped to address the challenges associated with food insecurity. The focus is not only on providing immediate relief but also on establishing a sustainable and scalable approach.
Through the use of modular indoor units provided by Fork Farms and the expertise of agriculture technology consultants, Freight to Plate, TCV is implementing sustainable solutions to overcome barriers such as permits, zoning, implementation, and scaling. By leveraging these resources and strategic collaborations, we are working towards a future where everyone in Chicago has access to the nourishing food they deserve.
